I'm currently working on a small town flood inundation mapping , the DEM file i am using for simulation contains a breakwater built after a recent flood event. My question is if it is possible to edit the DEM file using ArcGis 10.5 to flatten the breakwater area and run the simulation after and before the implementation of the breakwater. Am a bit new to arcgis.

  • You can by creating a patch with either a TIN or Terrain by extracting the small area of raster, converting to points, deleting the ones you don't want, create a TIN or Terrain (3d analyst required), convert to raster then use mosaic to new raster tool resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//… to insert the patch (be careful of your raster order). If you don't have 3d analyst that step can be done in QGIS. – Michael Stimson May 30 at 5:21
