I am working on calculating flood inundation volume in ArcMap. I have polygon layers that represent flood inundation at specific recurrence intervals. My layers do not have a constant plane height because the inundation layers were created on a reach by reach basis and merged together.

If I were to use Polygon Volume to calculate the volume of inundation, will my results be impacted by the fact that my polygon does not represent a constant plane?

Is the Polygon Volume tool able to pick up varying plane heights based off of where on the DEM it intersects?

Is it best to split this analysis up on a reach by reach level in order to have each polygon represent a constant plane?
