I am trying to download feature from an ArcGIS Map Server (e.g. https://<catalog-url>/<serviceName>/MapServer). I used the built-in ArcGIS Feature Server Browser of QGIS 3.8 to accomplish this.

QGIS will not only download the feature information but will also download the symbol information from the legend resource of a Map Server.

But the problem is that the symbol is not correct. It not correct when compared with what I see in the actual web map portal which queries the same map server for an image.

So it seems that a map server would generate an image based on a secret legend definition and doesn't follow the legend resource of a Map Server (e.g. https://<catalog-url>/<serviceName>/MapServer/legend).

How do I access the secret legend definition?

According to the website of ArcGIS, some symbols will be downgraded when uploaded to a feature server. Although requests of fixing this defect of ArcGIS / ArcMap/ ArcCatalog have been required by many users for many years, it seems that ESRI doesn't have any plan to fix this defect.
