I am trying to combine two polygons or areas on a map into one. I have added a field called region to try and dissolve the borders by region. This did not work. I am now trying to combine them using merge selected features in QGIS but I get the error:

  • Does your geometry have any errors? Try using 'Check Validity...' Can you describe additionally what happen when your proceed with 'Dissolve'?

  • Try using the tool Vector > Geometry tools > Multiparts to singleparts, before dissolve tool

  • @taras I get this error when trying to dissolve by region: Feature (3) has invalid geometry. Please fix the geometry or change the Processing setting to the "Ignore invalid input features" option. Execution failed after 0.08 seconds
