QGIS link to web server

I am working on a project for a volunteer organization and they want to know if it's possible to link a project to a web server?

Along with that, they want it to be password protected.

Does anyone know if this is possible and/or how to accomplish this?

Have a look at QGIS server: qgis.org/en/site/about/features.html#qgis-server. So yes, it is possible, but you have to cofigure it. Depending on your knowlege of server configuration, might not be so easy. To try it for free, use the plugin QGIS cloud: qgiscloud.com. The company that runs the service (not affiliated) as well as others have also commercial options and than they will set it up for you against a fee: qgis.org/en/site/forusers/commercial_support.html.
