I'm trying to run a closest facility analysis project on a Linux system computer, so far the available installed GIS software are QGIS and GRASS. I usually use ArcGIS so I'm not that familiar with QGIS, however, I found this awesome tutorial. Basically, according to the tutorial, I need to create an OD Matrix and use SQL sentences to filter out the shortest route for every incident.
But, it seems to only work with smaller datasets, my data has millions of incidents and thousands of facilities, which will produce a HUGE OD matrix. I tried to reduce the calculation volume by making data subsets with 2000 incidents, but it still took a super long time (almost 4 hours) to run a 2000-point dataset.
Is there any way to run closest facility analysis on QGIS without creating a giant OD matrix?
