I am trying to do georeference to image on the background of Google Maps. I download Google Maps using XYZ tiles when I open the Google Maps the map use WGS 84/Pseudo-Mercator CRS. When I try to do the georeference I choose the SRS as WGS 84/Pseudo-Mercator but while the four georeference points are at the right place, the image itself is in different and wrong location. Only when I do the georeference and set the SRS to WGS84 EPSG 4326 the image fit at the right place I'm afraid that later on I will have problem using that method.

When i try to use WGS84 EPSG 4326 both to the georeference and the Google map I have the same problem Has any one had the same problem?

  • It depens on the project CRS which coordinates values you have when you click on the map canvas to get the coordinates. If you have lat/lon values, than it's EPSG:4326. If the image appears in the right place, don't be afraid: if you reproject the image or if you change the project CRS, it will still be in the right place.
