I recently used the Average Nearest Neighbors tool in ArcGIS Pro to get a calculation of the average distance between points in a roadkill dataset. The tool assumes that points are not spatially restricted and may occur anywhere on the map. However, in this case this is not true because points are restricted by roads. Further inaccuracy may result from the default minimum bounding rectangle.

Is there some kind of GIS tool, perhaps used by researchers studying fish populations in rivers, that can calculate an Average Nearest Neighbors parameter on a more linear or network-like basis?
