I have an image which I can successfully transform to EPSG:3857 for use as an overlay in leaflet (open street maps). However, this naturally crops the poles of the image and I am wondering if there is a way to reproject the data to the correct projection whilst keeping the data at the poles

    The poles are infinitely far from the Equator in Web Mercator. It is not possible to keep them.
