I need to convert GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification https://developers.google.com/transit/gtfs/reference), data into some GIS data format like ESRI Shapefile or KML or something else.

Do you know any tool for this issue?

There's a tool that goes from GTFS to KML:

Hi Sunil thank you very much for the suggestions. I've tried it and works fine. Another solution I've found is using a JEQL procedure described here lin-ear-th-inking.blogspot.it/2011/10/…. This procedure generate shapefiles starting from GTFS files. Both work! Bye – Cesare Feb 1 '13 at 12:43
  • Note that the KMLWriter tool has moved to github.com/google/transitfeed/wiki/KMLWriter – Brian Ferris Jan 6 '15 at 5:29
  • Anybody tried using kmlwriter.py recently? I just tried to install and run and am running into an issue wherein module extension googletransit is missing. Posted an issue on the GH repo. I'm betting I missed something obvious but feel I did follow INSTALL instructions correctly, afaik. – kuanb Jan 27 '16 at 22:28

Bob Heitzman's XLS for GTFS spreadsheet tools can import and export KML, as well as its main function to import and export GTFS feed.

I wrote a simple web-based tool for converting KML files into GTFS shapes.txt files at:

It would probably be better if you identified your self as the author more clearly. – Ian Turton Jan 6 '15 at 13:16

ArcGIS Pro 2.2 now provides two tools to create features (shapefile or feature classes) from GTFS data:

Converts a GTFS shapes.txt file from a GTFS public transit dataset to a polyline feature class showing the physical paths taken by vehicles in the public transit system.

Converts a GTFS stop.txt file from a GTFS public transit dataset into a feature class of public transit stops.
