I have been working on polygonizing the vegetation areas in some counties from imagery. When I have the mosaic raster locally I can easily get the polygons using Image Classification Toolbar. But when it comes to using online ESRI imagery I don't know what to do. I was wondering if someone could suggest me a way to help in saving these basemap as raster locally. When I right lick on the layer it doesn't give me the Export option.

Using ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop, I just tested drawing imagery from Add Basemap and then using File|Export Map to create a *.jpg file, and this worked fine. If you are doing something different, then would you be able to edit your question to describe those steps in more detail, please? – PolyGeo Dec 1 '13 at 7:22
  • Basically I wanted to export the imagery by right clicking on the layer and exporting that as raster but I think using File|Export Map would resolve the issue and I can export the imagery in the windows extent as raster. – Arash Dec 2 '13 at 5:33
  • To rehash this question, given that Basemaps take so long to render, I am finding it hard to export my very large study area at the preferred scale, any tips? – user30000 May 7 '14 at 23:33
