Follow these steps: Download a us counties shapefile. Here's one that will work. Import the zipped UScounties file into CartoDB as a new table. Change the fips column's data type to number. (click on the word 'string' right below 'fips' and select number). Click the merge tables button on the right side of the tool bar when you are in data view. Choose '...

Yes indeed, block groups are formatted like: SS CCC TTTTTT G where S = State, C = County, T = Tract, and G = Block Group. Blocks have an additional three digits beyond that. Reference: https://www.census.gov/geo/reference/geoidentifiers.html *click on "GEOID Structure for Geographic Areas".

I'm aware of the Census Bureau Geocoder that provides a return of the FIPS and Geographic Areas that you are interest. You could read up more on the tool here as well There is also a github page Latitude/Longitude to FIPS Codes via the FCC's API That may be helpful. # FCC's Census Block Conversions API # http://www.fcc.gov/developers/census-block-...

I just did a spot check of all the tracts that were said to be missing (such as GEOID's 08005004952 & 08121924200) using the 2010 Census Tract Shapefiles. I matched all 36 of your example tracts to an existing 2010 Census Tract. This makes sense for the Census Bureau, who always delineates geographic data according to the latest year of coverage. In this ...

The FCC provides an API that will return attributes of a FIPS unit. https://www.broadbandmap.gov/developer/api/census-api-by-fips-code Note however, the page says that it is no longer being updated since 2014 and I cannot find a similar tool anywhere on the new site that is linked there. import requests import urllib #FIPS code fipsCD = 13245 #Construct ...

There is an API through the FCC that will return information about a census block from lat/lon coordinates. https://geo.fcc.gov/api/census/#!/block/get_block_find The format of the request URL is as such: https://geo.fcc.gov/api/census/block/find?latitude=40&longitude=-75&format=json import requests import urllib #Sample latitude and longitudes ...

Here is a very short sample of code that shows the proj4 library is functioning and your proj4string is correct: library(proj4) proj4string <- "+proj=lcc +lat_1=40.66666666666666 +lat_2=41.03333333333333 +lat_0=40.16666666666666 +lon_0=-74 +x_0=300000 +y_0=0 +datum=NAD83 +units=us-ft +no_defs" # Source data xy <- data.frame(x=1001557, y=217404) # ...

Use the dissolve tool, which you can find in the Processing Toolbox. Use the "area name" field as the grouping field in the dissolve tool.

After posting this I realized that it cannot correctly convert the points when I'm not telling it which columns contain the points I need it to convert. Here's a version that seems to work just fine: ####libraries#### library(proj4) library(tidyverse) library(leaflet) ####working directory#### wd <- ("MY WD") setwd(wd) ####file location#### file <...

Note that the URL constructor may choke when fed a fips code lower than 10000. Try code 1001 (Autauga County) Hence my suggestion for the URLS constructor, using '{0:05d}'.format(fipsCD): import requests import urllib fipsCD = 1001 url = 'https://www.broadbandmap.gov/broadbandmap/census/county/fips/' + '{0:05d}'.format(fipsCD) + '?format=json' data = ...

Check out the Urban Area Relationship Files published by the Census. The 2010 urban area relationship files provide simple relationships between the 2010 urban areas and other 2010 Census tabulation geography: counties, county subdivisions (in states with governmental minor civil divisions only), places (incorporated places and census designated places), ...

According to the National Association of Broadcaster's Engineering Handbook: Table 1.18-3 lists the country code for Palau as "70". The administrative area code for Angaur is "010", in Table 1.18-4. So a typo on the country number. The other Palau administrative districts probably aren't included because the original data request was for the 50 states ...

Massachusetts has no unincorporated areas, so the City name that you have should usually line up with the name of the municipality. From the US Census: TIGER County Shapefile From this file you could Spatially Join your 9-Digit ZIP code file to the county file, and get the resultant State and county FIPs codes. http://mcdc2.missouri.edu/websas/geocorr2k.html This service is provided by U Missouri, and it generates crosswalks like the one you're looking for. I see census place geocodes as one of their options, and they cross to a variety of geographies.
