After spending many enjoyable years tramping around the Eastern Iowa Countryside, we pulled up roots and transplanted ourselves to Atlanta Georgia where I now work for the Emory University School of Medicine as a

This leads to many whiteboards filled with hieroglyphic-like scribbles, and many hours lurking around Stack Overflow trying to gain enough knowledge to further the impression that I know what I am doing.
My principal coding environment is PHP/MySQL and I have adopted Codeigniter as my main development platform there — good documentation, flexible enough for real-world situations but with enough structure to keep me honest.
Forays into GIS and Angular have met with some success, but I tend to prefer a little more stability in my life than what these platforms offer.
Recently, I have started to develop an appreciation for Python, and have been adopting Test Driven Development practices as I try to wrestle large messy medical datasets into some reasonable semblance of form.
In my spare time I like to turn my computer off and spend quality time woodworking, baking, and marveling about what a wonderful little person my granddaughter is.
