I am a hazards geographer, disaster scientist, and risk analyst. I mainly work with GIS and R to create maps, charts, and figures for analyzing and conveying risk analysis related the natural and man-made disasters. Being from Louisiana, I have experience with Katrina, Rita, Isaac, BP, the 2011 Mississippi River flood, and many other events that didn't make national headlines.
Recently, I've gotten in interactive web maps and charts. In 2012, I created DisasterMap.net with the goal of providing near complete situational awareness in real time through your browser and smartphone.
Our US Bad Levee page provides a good example of our approach: US Bad Levees Project
