I am new to QGIS and GIS systems in general. I have a shapefile of zip codes with associated populations inside them. I also have random lat/long points. I am trying to find the number of people within a certain radius of these points. 

How would I do that using QGIS? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Calculating Population Within Buffer in QGIS
