Using Symbology Scaling when printing to PDF using QGIS 3.4

So when I am using QGIS 3.4.

When I go to print my map as a PDF the orange diagonals I added, which show up nicely in print composer, are scaled to the point of invisibility. 

How can I fix this so that they are not scaled down when exported?
