@enolan they are there. That would have been useful info to include. Do you think I could safely delete them? Not using MSSQL for anything.

Possibly. However I couldn't use rgdal with my PostGIS installation so that sort of makes the point moot no?

Interesting. So the implication are the some attributes are "sticky" and can't be dropped. What would the rationale be behind that?

Turns out there is an issue already @Spacedman: github.com/rstudio/rstudio/issues/2232. So you work in Emacs and employ polymode when including sql/postgis code as a string in read_sf?
