Did you do the precondition from within the modelbuider? did you attach the script to the process that is running first (when it is not supposed to) and make your script the precondition for your process?
In my experience, FGDB rasters have some compatibility issues. Do try exporting it as an ESRI grid first, then from the grid export it into a tif, and see if that works.
Actually, thanks. it is a good reminder for me. As- sometimes I just get stuck for not checking for case-sensitive commands, I always forget how case sensitive python could be.
