Web platform to create and share custom Google Maps.

Google maps engine allows to import locations from a spreadsheet or CSV with geographically-specific data including addresses, place names, or lat/longs, to create layers and style them to visualize different types of content, and to manually draw and add places, lines, and shapes. Maps can be shared with specific collaborators or shared publicly.

There are three editions: Maps Engine Lite, which is free, Maps Engine Pro and Maps Engine, which are not. They mainly differ in limitations regarding data volume for layers, attributes, address geocoding and styling options. Maps Engine is the only version that allows to import shapefiles, KML or images.
